Testing of cosmetic and beauty devices
Devices in a studio are work equipment and, depending on their classification, medical devices as well. We test both and document it so it stands up to scrutiny.

Why studios are a special case
A beauty studio has a problem an office does not: the devices work with energy applied to people. Depending on the classification, stricter limits for leakage currents therefore apply than for a kettle, and some of the devices fall not under DIN VDE 0701-0702 but under DIN EN 62353.
For large testing providers, a studio with twelve devices is barely of interest. That is exactly why it is our focus.
What gets tested
- Survey and classification: for each device it is recorded whether it is to be treated as electrical work equipment or as a medical device. This classification decides the test procedure and the limit values.
- Inspecting: housing, handpieces, applicators, leads, foot switches, cooling, filters, warning notices, protective eyewear for laser and IPL applications.
- Measuring: protective conductor resistance, insulation resistance, leakage currents by the method matching the classification.
- Functional testing: emergency stop, interlocks, controls and indicators, safety cut-outs.
- Documenting: report, label, schedule of due dates.
How it runs during business hours
We come at a time when no treatment is running: early, in the evening or on your closing day. Each device is occupied for only a few minutes. If a device is needed in between, we bring it forward.
What that is worth when it matters
A file in which each device has an entry: tested on, result, measured values, next due date. Plus the label on the device. That is the basis on which you demonstrate to the employers liability insurance association, the supervisory authority and your insurer that the technical side is in order.

FAQ
Questions about this service
Do I have to close the studio for the test?
No. We work device by device and schedule appointments outside your treatment hours.
Does the test replace the expertise required under NiSV?
No, and it does not work the other way round either. The expertise requirement under NiSV concerns you as the practitioner and the way you apply the device to a person. The technical safety of the device is a separate operator obligation. That is the part we take on. Only both together make a business that stands up to scrutiny.
Which devices in the studio are actually affected?
Practically all electrical ones: IPL and laser platforms, RF devices, ultrasound, microdermabrasion, cryolipolysis, steamers, motorised couches, wax heaters, sterilisers, plus the ordinary office equipment. The classification decides which standard applies, not whether one applies at all.
How do you tell whether a device counts as a medical device?
What matters is the intended purpose set by the manufacturer, readable from the labelling, the declaration of conformity and the instructions for use. We record these details and classify every device traceably.
We bought devices from abroad. Can you test them?
We test electrical safety. If the CE marking or the declaration of conformity is missing, we say so clearly. That is then not a test result but a question for the seller, and it should be settled before the device is used.
