What gets tested
The recurring test to DIN VDE 0105-100 looks at the installation as a whole:
- Inspecting: distribution boards, labelling, covers, cable routing, overcurrent protection, visible damage and inadmissible extensions.
- Functional testing: residual current devices with tripping current and tripping time, protective devices, emergency stop.
- Measuring: protective conductor connections, insulation resistance of the circuits, loop impedance and the disconnection current derived from it.
- Assessing: the defects found are ranked by urgency so that you can decide what is remedied immediately and what can be planned.
Who it is for
For businesses that use premises commercially, whether rented or owned. The obligation falls on the employer, not on the landlord. Anyone renting premises should know the condition of the installation before damage occurs.
Where the boundary lies
We test and document. Remedying defects found in the fixed installation is something you commission from a firm of your choice. We tell you clearly what needs doing, and we retest once the work is complete.

FAQ
Questions about this service
What distinguishes fixed from portable?
Fixed covers everything permanently connected to the installation, or heavy enough that moving it is out of the question: sub-distribution boards, circuits, sockets, lighting, permanently connected devices. Portable is what you can move with the lead still connected.
How often is the test due?
For fixed installations and equipment, DGUV Vorschrift 3 gives four years as a guide value. Shorter intervals apply to protective measures with residual current devices in non-stationary installations. The final interval follows from your risk assessment.
Does the power have to be switched off?
For some of the measurements yes, but always one circuit at a time and by arrangement. In practices and studios we place those sections in periods when no treatment is running.
We have no installation documentation. Is that a problem?
It makes the test more time-consuming but does not prevent it. We survey the distribution boards, and at the end you receive a record of what is there, which then serves as the basis for future tests.
